The New Grove Distillery, represented by Grays Inc. Ltd, has once again placed Mauritius on the global spirits map. At the 26th edition of the Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, held in Jalisco, Mexico, from September 7 to 13, 2025, the New Grove Emotion 1969 earned the prestigious Grand Gold Medal and was named Rum Revelation 2025.
The Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is one of the world’s most respected competitions for spirits. This year’s event brought together entries from over 70 countries, assessed by an international panel of experts representing more than 40 nationalities. Each sample is carefully evaluated and accompanied by detailed feedback, offering producers both recognition and valuable insights to improve their products.
Alongside the New Grove Emotion 1969, Mauricia Heritage also stood out, winning a gold medal. These awards confirm the growing reputation of Mauritian rum on the global stage. In recent years, New Grove has already made its mark, notably with a gold medal for its “Rum 42˚ 5 Years Old”, strengthening Mauritius’ standing as a land of exceptional rum.
“I am proud to represent Mauritius among the world’s best and to showcase our unique expertise. These awards place our small island firmly on the international spirits map,” said Florence de Coriolis, Rum Brand Manager at Grays Inc. Ltd, who served as a jury member for the second consecutive year.
Beyond the competition, the 2025 edition highlighted Mexico’s iconic Raicilla and Tequila, offering participants an in-depth exploration of their production methods and cultural significance. Jury members also assessed a wide range of categories, including rum, gin, cognac, pisco, grappa, fruit brandies, liqueurs, and the latest innovations in the “low & no alcohol” segment.
The participation and recognition of Grays at the Spirits Selection underline the credibility and excellence of Mauritian rum in international markets. These awards demonstrate that Mauritius is not only a producer but also a rising global player in the spirits industry.
With its prestigious accolades, New Grove continues to prove that the combination of heritage, innovation, and Mauritian savoir-faire appeals to the most discerning palates, positioning Mauritius as an essential destination for rum enthusiasts worldwide.
